When is Málaga Feria 2026?
The Feria de Málaga 2026 will take place from Saturday 15 August until Saturday 22 August, inclusive. The dates have been officially approved by Málaga City Council.
The celebrations are traditionally divided between two main areas:
- Feria del Centro – taking place around Málaga’s historic city centre during the daytime.
- Real de la Feria – the main fairground area, where the festivities continue into the evening and night.
The historic centre provides the perfect setting for experiencing Málaga’s traditional side, with music, dancing and people enjoying the Feria in the streets and squares.
15 August: A Bank Holiday in Spain
The Feria begins on 15 August, which is also a national public holiday in Spain: the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Asunción de la Virgen).
This means that many businesses and services will be closed or operate on reduced opening hours, while restaurants, bars, tourist attractions and leisure businesses may have different schedules.
For many people living on the Costa del Sol, the combination of a public holiday and the beginning of Feria makes 15 August an ideal day to enjoy a long weekend.
Málaga’s Local Holiday: 19 August
There is another important date during Feria week.
Wednesday 19 August 2026 is a local public holiday in Málaga, commemorating the incorporation of Málaga into the Crown of Castile.
This gives residents of Málaga another day to enjoy the Feria and the city’s celebrations.
The second local holiday in Málaga for 2026 is 8 September, Día de Nuestra Señora de la Victoria.
